Harden Hill House
In the fall
of 2001 we purchased a wonderful two bedroom home in the village,
at 17 Harden Avenue. We have thoroughly enjoyed putting our own
touches to the decor. We completely repainted the exterior and
Barb tamed the shrubs to get them under control. We repainted
much of the interior and furnished it to comfortably accommodate
four adults or families. Of course we added a nautical print to
each of the bedrooms. In spite of neighborhood pressure to move
ourselves into this home, we are making it available for weekly
or monthly rental from May through October.

Harden Avenue Looking Toward Mt. Battie
The house
is located in an area of private homes in a neighborhood that
is ideal for walking. You are just a few minutes' walk to the
downtown shops, restaurants and of course the windjammer dock
for Surprise. As you stroll downtown,
you can stop at the award winning Camden Public Library, which
was doubled in size a few years ago. For a map provided by the
Camden Downtown Business Group, copyright 2001 Tim Seymour, showing
the location of Harden Hill House, click here.
Harden Hill
House has two bedrooms, one with a new full size bed and one with
a new queen size bed. The living room has cable TV and VCR, a
stereo and a futon which opens to a full size bed. The completely
renovated kitchen features all appliances including a new electric
range, microwave, toaster and service for eight. There is also
a new washer and dryer in the full basement.

If you decide
to simply enjoy the setting of our home, you can have a summer
cookout in the backyard surrounded by shade trees and plantings.
We provide a barbecue grill and picnic table. Besides being convenient
to the village, Harden Hill House is also just a few minutes walk
to the Mt. Battie hiking trail. In fact, as soon as you begin
to walk up Harden Avenue you can look out over Penobscot Bay and
the islands, giving you a hint of the breathtaking vista that
awaits you on the mountain. Camden Hills State Park has over 5000
acres, with miles of hiking trails. You can also drive to the
summit of Mt. Battie and enjoy the view before you return to Harden
Hill House.
Take your
time. Listen to the birds. This is, after all, a vacation!
